However, when we are in the role of the observer explaining the behavior of others, we are more likely to blame their character. Attrition bias: when a participant drops out of a long term study or experiment. Reconstructive bias: memory isn’t reliable, it has been reconstructed. Normalcy bias: the situation will stay normal, nothing bad will happen Hindsight bias: thinking you already knew something after being told it. Projection bias: assuming others share the same belief as us. Similarity bias: befriend people/like people who are similar to us. Recency bias: most recent impression/information is important/easier to remember. Primacy bias: first impression/information is more important/easier to remember. Optimism bias: bad things happen to others but not us. Self-serving bias: if we succeed it is due to internal qualities, if we fail it is due to external qualities. Actor-Observer bias: attribute the behaviour of others to internal problems but attribute our own behaviour to external problems. Selection/sampling bias: selection of data/groups that are not randomized or representative. Confirmation bias: actively seek out only confirming facts. Belief perseverance bias: ignoring/rationalizing disconfirming facts. Overconfidence bias: overestimate your ability to produce correct answer. This is my list of biases I have accumulated from all of my studying.
